Luray

Views from inside Luray Caverns and the surrounding area (featuring the Great Stalacpipe Organ, dedicated June 7, 1957). The temperature inside the caverns is uniformly 54 °F.    The Singing Tower houses 47 bells ranging from 12.5 pounds to 7,640 pounds.

National Geographic considers Saracen’s Tent to be the best example in the world where the water drips at an angle forming the fabric-like design (drapery).

Some pieces broke off from the roof several tens of thousands of years ago, during a seismic event of 8.5 on the scale. The stalagmite and stalactite formations in Luray Caverns continue to grow at the rate of one cubic inch every 120 years.
